Dealing With Trump’s Victory

It’s no surprise that many are upset and terrified about having Donald Trump as the next U.S president. There’s a lot of division and more fear in the country than there has been in a long time. All new presidents are shaky at first and it’s worth noting that a greater good has allowed this to happen. It is more important than ever to stay vigilant and keep a clear head.

Let me start by saying to move past your initial negative feelings on Trump. You must first be willing to give him a chance. It may not be something you want to do, but it’s the fair and just thing to do. Trump won, like it or not. Instead of being outright against him, we should wish him well and support him. We all want him to have a successful presidency and we also want to be successful as a country. A successful presidency means that the lives of all communities and groups improve even if it’s only by a small margin.

We must also understand that nothing has happened yet. Trump did say some horrible things and even backed ideals that weren’t popular with the general populace. This could have been simple politics. He might not actually go through with all the things that he said. If he does try, know that you will not be alone in the fight for your rights just like we always have been. If Trump has proven anything this past year, things can always be undone.

Lastly, have hope. No matter who you believe in, who you worship, what you stand for, understand that there is a greater good at work. There is a plan for this and in that plan, you’ve already won. Something good will come out of this. We don’t always like the right now because we haven’t seen the good that’s going to come out of it. This could be a test of your will or your faith. Whatever it is, push through it. You’re stronger than this.
